Arriving in the USA for studies

Once

you land in the USA for studies, you are high in aspirations and adrenaline rushes in your veins, the new sky will and the breeze makes you comfortable right at the airport, this country promises to deliver all your dreams if you stick to your promise of hard word with passion.

Get to the accommodation:

In case you have already hired a taxi service to your destination, take it from the airport and reach your destination, complete necessary paperwork and take possession. USA journey is a very long and hectic, it’s a 14 hours or more flight added with your local commute it sometimes is 24 hours journey without sound sleep. So take possession and rest before getting excited to see the surrounding.

Shopping in the US:

You need some cooking equipment, laundry detergents and some basic stuff to make up your room before anything. Large shopping malls and supermarkets like Wal-Mart and Target in the US are one-stop shops for all of your daily needs. Be vigilant to ensure that all of your shopping is properly billed and that you keep the bills with you. Get yourself settle down.

Basic cooking is good:

Cooking for yourself will save you money. While out for shopping get something for your breakfast and dinner. Indian food is expensive in the US. It will also satisfy your urge to eat ‘your food’ during moments of homesickness. Learning to cook something special to treat yourself would be a good idea before you say ‘bye bye’ to your mom, you are really going to miss the taste.

Explore your neighborhood:

Check your neighborhood and see if you can say hello to a few and make some quick friends to understand the area better. Walking around the neighborhood, looking for the key necessities, parks, shopping area, convenience stores, pharmacy stores, and if there are any Indians living around, and collecting their basic details etc. would be good.

Stay on Student Visa:

When you enter the US, you may remain in the US as long as you are enrolled in the school to complete your academic program. After the program ends you will have 60 days to leave the US you can look for employment opportunities during this time or you can depart from the country to come back to India.
